Kennedy Valve implements peer-to-peer appreciation program
January 6, 2025
Kennedy Valve implemented a UMatter peer-to-peer appreciation program where team members nominate one of their peers in recognition of their dedication to The McWane Way guiding principles.
The employee appreciation program was first implemented in Jan. 2022. Since its start, there has been extremely positive feedback from team members and in the past six months there has been a continuous stream of submittals.
Each week, there is a “UMatter Spotlight” to highlight a team member's dedication to The McWane Way principle of the week. Each month, all nominees are documented on a running spreadsheet and recognized in the Kennedy Valve quarterly newsletter. Every nominee receives a certificate and Kennedy Valve swag.
In addition, the assistant general manager has a “Hydrant Awards” program that highlights safety, quality and excellence where six team members, between salary & hourly, are chosen from the monthly nominees to receive a miniature fire hydrant. At the end of the year, six of the “Hydrant Awards” winners from the year are then selected to receive the coveted “Yearly UMatter Hydrant Award”. These hydrants were made on the facility's 3D printer by Product Design Engineer Garret Johnson.
